Guest Doctor Bob Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 Hey there! Been checking out the new site, liking the new design! Couple of little questions: 1. When searching for cat nos, can you search as a substring? Like being able to enter 786 to find anything on 786 Approved 2. Would it be possible to have an option list like the old site rather than a drop down list to select which category to search through? I don't know about other people but I find these much more convenient And something I'm wondering - when tunes have multiple releases on different labels, there are sometimes slight differences between the different versions. Is this represented in any way? If not, I guess the comments feature may be useful for this when it comes through. Great site though, this is easily one of the best and most comprehensive resources about! Quote
haste Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 The Help section tells you how you can use the search engine in many different ways. It's a lot more powerful than the old one once you get used to how to use it. Personally, I wouldn't like to see a return to the check boxes. It's an issue of space really. I find a drop down list much easier and simpler, but I guess everyone has their favourite method! How do you mean, different versions? As in the length of track or the actual version of the track? If the release has a completely, or even slightly different mix then this will be noted (usually as a remix or edit of some sort). If it is simply a matter of the track being cut short then, at the moment, this information will not be recorded Quote
