I could of sworn I heard those very breaks for the 1st issue sample cd from Futuremusic. Just like the wierd bell sequence used in the same tune. I'll check again, but that will leave me thinking, where did futuremusic get it.

Also, a lot of the breakbeat loops on X-Static Goldmine I've recognised being sampled from late 80s and very early 90s hip hop and house tunes. Maybe there's a clue there but I'm still searching for the original source of that think break to this very day - it's proving more difficult to find than the 'sandy' break!

it's gotta be from a hiphop tune. that's all I can say, somewhere between 1988 and 1991, but 1000's of hiphop US and UK in between those dates I just don't have enough freetime to check stuff out

Using Propellerheads Recycle I separated the individual parts and sent it into Reason to play on the Dr. Rex loop player.

Upping the tempo and transposing it into a higher key has given me somewhat the desired effect, but I still cant get it to sound exactly like I would want.

(As the example they posted sounds)

 

What part or parts are they using in the example?

How much is the tempo/ key changed and are there any other effects being added to get that fast, squeaky sound?

If any experienced producers can give info on what they do to get the desired effect on that break, it would be greatly appreciated.

Massiv, Thats the 4th loop being used & I think all you need to do is play at higher key which makes faster & increases pitch. That example you gave may have then been 'time stretched' down slightly to give lower pitch, and its also mono.

 

Most people who use that 4th loop normally kill after the 4th beat avoiding that squeek at the end... that particular example you posted sounds very familar though, i'm thinking a Frontline record maybe

Some said that was James Brown, but there was simply a younger voice in the middle of it, wonder who the guy was?
