Ornette Posted December 14, 2005 Report Posted December 14, 2005 Pretty certain we can call this as being MC Duke's label. Here's a link: http://www.musicoflife.com/dukepage.htm"From this Duke went onto produce music for labels like ?Shut Up and Dance? and ?Suburban Base? before launching his own labels ?Hard Disk? and Bluntly Speaking.? "He's done tracks for SUAD? Anyone else aware of this? And Subbase???? http://www.heroesofukhiphop.com/MCDuke.htm"He then joined the Shut Up And Dance label and released two 12 inches with DJ Leader 1 under the name I.C.3.."Oh, I see... - - - - - HD001Is Etched DARREN. As well, E.K.U.D.C.M. (do you spot it???) is specified as artist name for the B Side. How about changing to: "How Dark It Is (E.K.U.D.C.M. Remix)" HD002Actually says HARDDISK 2 on label, and has etchings HD002 on A side, and HD003 on B side... HD003Artist name is E.DUK.C.M. (yes, thats E.DUK.C.M. not E.K.U.D.C.M.) Again, says HARDDISK 3 on label. Etchings are HD003 on both sides. Great E.P. They don't make 'em like they used to, do they. 5 tracks for a ?5? Take a listen to "On Dope" and "Kashif" if you get a chance HD004Don't have this one but its not too bad. HD005Artist name on this is The Darkest Knight - it's the E.P. that is called "A Duke Joint" Pretty rubbish if you ask me I'm quite confident that we can call all artists as aliases of MC Duke, but possiblly a couple are collaborative efforts with other people (for instance DJ Leader 1). I reckon the E.K.U.D.C.M./Double 'H' Productions substitution on first release certainly confirms it for the Double H alias, at least. So, as well as giving us the excellent "I'm Riffin'" breakbeat, MC Duke has as well provided the scene with a number of quite excellent tracks, quite above the general standard of tunes of the time. "Spread out and scatter!" Quote
haste Posted December 14, 2005 Report Posted December 14, 2005 Ah god, what a headache! Cheers for finding all that, though. Interesting to hear about the SUAD stuff and I have no idea what he made for Sub Base Quote

Ornette Posted April 21, 2007 Author Report Posted April 21, 2007 More about MC Duke http://www.rolldabeats.com/artist/duke_and_leader_one This alias should be split, and reassigned Duke = http://www.rolldabeats.com/person/_mc_dukeLeader One = http://www.rolldabeats.com/person/_dj_leader_1 Or completely removed. We know I.C.3 is MC Duke & DJ Leader 1 anyway - no need to add the 'featuring' bit printed on the label really - - - - - http://www.rolldabeats.com/artist/man_with_no_name This needs to be split. The HARDDISK2 tracks should be seperated away from the rest. The remaining tracks should be credited to Man With No Name, where as the Hard Disk tracks should be credited to The Man With No Name Man With No Name = Martin FreelandThe Man With No Name = MC Duke - - - - - http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/hard_disk/hd006 Is a 3 tracker.
