Bhima Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 Got Skanna - Find Me on vinyl recently and realized that both mixes were completely different to the one I have on an old tape in a jungle chart... Listen to this: http://www.sendspace.com/file/nccpem WTF! Is this released? Got onto Future Bound about it as he was Skanna's best mate back in the day and released two tracks by him but he didnt reply. I have this, nearly 100% on a tape, except for the DJ saying "This is number 6 in the Chart... Sounds of the Skanna... Track called Find me". The Tape is from November 1995. And that clip is all you're getting because I want it all for myself! Peace, Bhima Quote

Hmm interesting. Unreleased forum ahoy! Quote
Bhima Posted January 28, 2006 Author Report Posted January 28, 2006 Yes you mentioned about this before right? Oh, right yeah. Just remembered that I posted this up here: http://www.rolldabeats.com/forum/index.php...40564&hl=skanna Had no audio back then though. I would post up more audio but i'm real selfish about this one. For about 10 years, i've thought that that was THE version of Find Me on vinyl and then I heard Equinox play the "real" version so thought mine must be the remix on the flip. In the database, here: http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/skanna/skanna09 , it is down as released in 1996 so I think this may have been a promo/TP version that never came out or something... But the guy doing the radio show was not well known and couldn't have got hold of a TP, in my opinion. He did, however, run Manchester's only jungle shop so he could have got a promo. I'm baffled. Maybe it was from a compilation CD which had a different mix featured (like Lemon D - "Feel It" being exclusive to vinyl and another mix being on compilations - another post I should make actually...) but they are from 1996 also and somebody would be able to recognise this clip if it was on any of them. EDIT: Or maybe there was another release of a remixon another label that RDB doesn't know of...? :annoyed:  Quote
Ornette Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 In the database, here: http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/skanna/skanna09 , it is down as released in 1996 so I think this may have been a promo/TP version that never came out or something... Maybe it was from a compilation CD which had a different mix featured (like Lemon D - "Feel It" being exclusive to vinyl and another mix being on compilations -I'm pretty sure I got "Find Me" in 1995. Its possible what you say about promo's, I've got at least one promo with different tracks to the official. In any case, I only ever heard the 'remix' from that 12" out and about - never the "Classic Skanna Mix" I wonder if your mix is on the Artcore 2 album? I just discovered Artcore 3 contains an alternate mix of a tune I thought was otherwise unreleased... PS Whats the difference with the Lemon D "Feel It" track (a personal fave, btw)? Quote
Bhima Posted January 29, 2006 Author Report Posted January 29, 2006 I wonder if your mix is on the Artcore 2 album?Have no idea man, could be but I don't have access to a copy... Anyone else on here do? PS Whats the difference with the Lemon D "Feel It" track (a personal fave, btw)?I'll make a post about that tomorrow after I record my vinyl and copy a clip from the CD. Quote
Phokus Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 The mix on Artcore 2 is the same as the released mix. Quote
Bhima Posted January 30, 2006 Author Report Posted January 30, 2006 The mix on Artcore 2 is the same as the released mix. OK, i've heard all the versions that are on the other compilations and they're the same too. So, I recon that this is either unreleased, a TP/Promo pressing error of a work-in-progress version, maybe, or is released, but in such a small number that it has been missed out by the database because of its rarity. OR - it could have been a bootleg remix by the DJ in question, but I doubt it because of the fact that the synth in the background that is nicely sustained only features as short stabs in the other two versions, so you'd need access to Skanna's synths and samples to make it that convincing... and not many average people could make tunes back then because of the prices of equipment. I'm going to try and point a few more people in the direction of this thread, who might know. Bhima Posted January 30, 2006 Author Report Posted January 30, 2006 OK, sent Future Bound a longer clip and he said he'll get back to me. Quote
Bhima Posted January 30, 2006 Author Report Posted January 30, 2006 Further info: Also in the chart on the tape was: http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/stu/stu_11Unknown year in the database* http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/stu/stu_10Unknown year in the database* http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/moving_shadow/shadow611995 in the database http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/urban_gorilla/ugr0041995 in the database http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/moving_shadow/shadow60r1995 in the database http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/tearin_vinyl/tear011995 in the database http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/rugged_vinyl/rugged121994 in the database* And two others I can't remember... (chart not in that order btw) *So, there are three releases there which should be 1995 as I definately know this tape is from November of that year. Maybe you should change the skanna09 release to 1995 too as me and Ornette both think it was 1995 and the tape suggests so. Quote
Guest Moody Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 I just listened to this version you uploaded and it is the Classic Skanna Mix of Find Me Skanna 09 Quote
Ornette Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 Is it!? I'm gonna have to dig out my 1995 box I think Quote
Java Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 Am I alone in thinking that this doesn't even touch the original Find Me? This version sucks, I think he was simply trying to make money by making this mix, no wonder noone's ever heard it before! Quote
Bhima Posted February 12, 2006 Author Report Posted February 12, 2006 Don't know... But i've got back to my mate and he says that he thinks his may be a bootlegged copy, as someone else told him that the other side was actually "Peace" from this: http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/skanna/skanna11 I'm unsure, as I haven't heard that track before. I'll have to find someone else with the 12" to confirm. His didn't even have any writing or anything on it; it's a white label so i'm guessing it could be a bootleg. Quote

All I know is, I have Skanna 9, 10 and 11 and owned the promos too and can guarantee you RDB has it all spot on. Quote
