haste Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 Ben Grimm - Dogz On Da Set [24 Karat] "Dog" (Vocoded voice) (sample source for this is likely to be Snoop Doggy Dogg - Who Am I (What's My Name)?) Quote
The_Manipulator Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 Not sure how it sounds exactly, but there's a vocoded "dog" that's been used a lot before Snoop Dogg. Atlantic Starr - "I Wanna Be Your Lover" is the only one that comes to mind (from 1990). But even in that one it's a sample. I'll try and check this out, as I think it's the same sample... And the title should be "Who Am I (What's My Name)?". Quote
haste Posted April 20, 2006 Author Report Posted April 20, 2006 You know what....you're right! The original is P-Funk - Atomic Dog Do you reckon we should list that as the original? It's most likely sampled from the Snoop tune and I have no idea if the Snoop one is a direct sample or replayed (most likely) Quote
The_Manipulator Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 That's the one! Just couldn't remember it... Just list it as Atomic Dog. There are loads more which are probably sampled from other sources (sample CD's or just downloaded from the internet), so unless it's very clear that there's a different source (Danny Breaks not sampling Billy Cobham's "Heather" but Souls of Mischief's "93 til infinity" for example) I'd just go for the original. Ornette Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 It's George Clinton on the artist name, I don't think there was ever a group called 'P-Funk', there was Parliament, Funkadelic & Parlet, no P-Funk (that was the name of the genre) Quote
haste Posted April 21, 2006 Author Report Posted April 21, 2006 Good point...I knew P-Funk wasn't right but didin't have time to look up the original...cheers! Quote
