Roni Size - Sorry For You

Was there a dubplate mix of this floating about? I remember hearing a tune on a tape (around 2003, maybe 2004) that had an intro similar to Sorry For You but a bassline similar to Total Science stuff like Ask Not. The bass reminded me of early New Order / Joy Division stuff.

 

I've search through most things released by Commix, Total Science, Full Cycle, Hospital during that period but still couldn't find it.

I heard a tune on a tape about 3 years ago, so i asked the guy in my local record shop and he said it was FC 50 weeks before it was (n't) released

 

However it wasn't, but the tune did have a FC vibe to it with an organic sounding bassline that reminded me of Western, Zinc's Disappear or Sorry for you but with a Joy Division-ish twist

 

The tape i heard it on had an MC chatting "we bounce, we bounce-hit 'em high.............", possibly the ragga twins

Can anyone suggest any tunes from 03/04 that have a 'natural bassline' similar to tunes such as Miles from Home, Western, Disappear e.t.c but with a slightly darker, rolling edge.

 

The tune i'm after sounds very much like Full Cycle stuff (Sorry for you-in particular), though i'm postive it's not on FC...any other label / artist suggestions?

 

Just listened to some Total science and the tune i want ID-ed sounds very similar to ask not (original) and urban decay

Sorry i wasn't my intention to frustrate other people with this tune

 

The bass is most similar to urban decay in it's structure but has the bass sound of Ask not

 

Don't know how to describe the drums, not amens just regular 4/4- sort of like the smooth, punchy ones Roni used in scrambled eggs, sorry for you etc

 

It also has a 'bass roll' (like Twisted uses or other FC artists use on their dancefloor orientated tunes-don't know how to describe this properly) before the break

 

In fact it was the drums and the pads (which have an eerie sound, similar to Sorry for you) that made me think it was Full cycle but i can't find any audio (i mean i've checked all the releases on V, FC,Chronic around this period) to support this theory

 

One final detail. I heard it on a tape that had the Ragga Twins on it and Marky was DJ-ing. I'm pretty sure that it was only the first 20 mins of Marky on the tape but he dropped 2 tracks by sappo, Metal Gear remix and Circumference, which could mean that it was recorded in 2003. It may have been an innovation tape
