on a related note, is it possible for old style urls to auto redirect to the correct new url style? maybe with .htaccess... trying to find an example, i could have sworn i saw it in either label or artist old urls.. maybe it's if the release doesnt exist

tarzan.spoox.org URLs perhaps?

 

Problem is, all the old URLs that are on this forum have been truncated (i.e. contain "..." in the actual link) due to the forum conversion. No way to recover the internal bits of the URL

 

However, if the track ID is still at the end of the tarzan.spoox.org link, it can be copied & pasted for use on RDB (just open a release's "permalink", and replace the track ID at the end w/ the one from the old link)

I'm not sure there's a way of keeping the old URLs working. I don't know exactly how they worked and whether the IDs in those URLs will match the current db's ones.

 

Those links have been out of use for 5 years now so it's about time we moved on :wink:

nah not the tarzan ones, i must have just seen renamed releases causing errors in some old links, so i thought that the recent site update changed the url style

Names of labels/artist do change as well as cat nos sometimes changing a little bit from time to time and, you're right, this will break the URL. There's no way of us keeping the old URLs alive in this case.

 

However, the new permalink feature in the bottom left of each page will provide a permanent link to that artist, label or release even if the "friendly" URL changes at some point. When linking through it's always best to use that
