Mampi Swift - Soundcraft (1997)

Mentioned in Atmosphere issue #37 as having originally been planned to release on CHRG 003.

It was found on a dubplate labeled "Swift Sound Craft". Also found in this dubplate ID thread - audio clip.

The track title may have been inspired by the Soundcraft Spirit mixing desk Swift was using around this time (mentioned by @Ornette here). Soon after the track's debut Swift would repurpose the word Soundcraft as an artist name. He would make the following announcement in Informer magazine #9:

On 9/4/2024 at 9:52 AM, Ornette said:

I'm looking at his column / top tracks feature in The Informer magazine #9, May 1997, and he's got this stated:
"ON THE BEAT VIP - SOUNDCRAFT - CHARGE
THIS IS A RELICK OF MY FIRST RELEASE ON SUB BASE AND HAS BEEN REMIXED BY NEW PRODUCERS SOUNDCRAFT. THE TRACK HAS A SLIGHT TECHNO INFLUENCE AND A PHAT 808 BASS LINE, STILL KEEPING THAT ON AND ON VOCAL FOR THE LADIES. BIG UP THE SOUNDCRAFT CREW.
"

It seems to suggest 'Soundcraft' is an artist - presumably then what later reduced to The Kraft, and if so what we're really seeing in that advert is a muddled ref to Soundcraft's remix of Mampi Swift's "Just Roll"

Mampi Swift - Oh Baby (1997)

I've not found this one in sets or any publicly available material so far. If anyone has more info please let us know 👍

It was found on a dubplate with 'Jay-Z - Ain't No Playa (Ganja Kru Remix)' on the flip.

On DOA, DJ Haynes mentioned that this copy of Oh Baby is dated March 1997.

There is another copy b/w 'B-Jam - Funkula (97 Remix)', cut for Micky Finn. The writing on it is similar to a different dubplate with The One b/w Feel Good. As the latter is labeled correctly, it supports the idea that Oh Baby may also be a Swift track.

Asian Dub Foundation - Culture Move (Mampi Swift Remix) (Version 2) (1997? / 1998?)

Unknown track that can be heard in this dubplate clip on kid-b's SoundCloud, presumably labeled "Asian Dub".

The intro uses the same sounds as Swift's 1997 remix of Asian Dub Foundation - Culture Move, so this is either him having another go at remixing the song or is some kind of dubplate special.

It incorporates a breakbeat layer that can be heard in Mampi Swift - Revenge also.

Not identified in any sets so far, could've been made late 1997 or early to mid 1998.

Mampi Swift - Tonight (Version 1) (1996)

Very similar to Load, although in my opinion it has enough key differences to be considered a track of its own.

Most of the intro, lead-up to drop, main drum pattern, bass patterns are arranged different despite having been written using the same sounds. Load is also missing the main vocal sample "it's gonna be real nice tonight".

Tonight debuted in December 1996 and Load was already made by January 1997 so it's possible that they were made side by side like other Swift demos.

Brockie & Mampi Swift @ Radio 1 - One In The Jungle [1997-12-13] (clip below)

Mampi Swift - Tonight (Version 2) (1996 / 1997?)

Second version of Tonight with a few changes: Intro sub hits are different and play less frequently. The "it's gonna be real nice tonight" sample is pitched down. Drop bass arrangement is changed and some of the vocal samples are missing. First drop is much shorter and the song is arranged completely different from the breakdown onward. Many other small production differences.

Can also be heard in this dubplate clip on kid-b's SoundCloud.

Just a heads up I've replied a with a new summary of Tonight, could the first post link to this one instead? Or feel free to bring the changes into your reply whichever you prefer.

Mampi Swift - Unknown (Synthetic drums, acid bass) (1997)

Unreleased track that uses the same drums as Synthetic in some parts (except the snare) and plays an erratic distorted acid bass throughout.

Note that in the clip it's being double dropped with "Andy C? / Stakka? - Play Bad [Unreleased]" from 3:10 onward, so it can be difficult to pick out which sounds actually belong to this track.

Thanks for all these new tracks.  I've added all of them to the link on the first page.  With the post for 'Tonight' that I put up I removed it and linked both of the versions you added this evening.

Mampi Swift - Unknown ("Fusion", reverse vocal sample) (1999)

Unreleased Long Life EP era song found on a few dubplates, with no dj set or radio plays known at this time. The reversed vocal sample used in this track can also be heard in another unknown Swift track.

This track is labeled "Swift" on dubdubdub's dubplate.

second clip on SoundCloud may or may not be the same plate.

On my dubplate it's labeled "Swift Fusion", b/w Sweet Tooth, which is another unreleased Mampi Swift track.

(The aforementioned Sweet Tooth was also found on a dubplate cut for Profile where it's b/w an unreleased version of The Bug from 1999. Meaning this Unknown "Fusion" track is likely a 1999 track also. More info on Sweet Tooth to follow.)

The track being labeled Fusion is likely done in error as this track shares no similarities with the Fusion that released on the Long Life EP or its lost prototype version.

Limp Bizkit - My Way (Mampi Swift Remix) (2003)

Uses a verse from 'Limp Bizkit - My Way' in the intro. This would end up being reworked into 'Aftermath - Rockers' with the verse removed but the "Yeah" vocal stab left in throughout the track.

Also known as 'Aftermath - Rockers (Dubplate Version)'

Played at:
Mampi Swift @ United Dance at Canvas [2003-09-27] (clip below)

Admittedly I don't have a good grasp of Swift's sound beyond 2003, though I'm sure there's a lot more unreleased Swift hiding in 2002-2010 CD packs.

This mix alone should have several more for anyone looking to dig in.

This one too

And

DJ Profile @ DNBA Podcast [2008-08-07] (audio)
Track at 47 mins is listed 'Mampi Swift - Fear'. not sure if this was ever released
