Unknown 1998 happy hardcore track ID – possibly DJ Fade / Blatant Beats?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to identify a track from an old cassette I recorded from the radio back in 1998. I've been looking for this one for years and recently digitised the tape.

I sent the sample to John Kutski, who said he wasn't sure of the exact track but thought it sounded like Brisk, possibly Brisk & Fade, and mentioned the Blatant Beats sound.

I then sent it to Brisk, who also couldn't identify it but said:

"It does sound like it could be a DJ Fade track, maybe a Silk Cuts release."

I've since checked the Silk Cuts releases and a lot of DJ Fade / Fade & Bananaman material from that period, but haven't found it.

The recording is definitely from 1998 or earlier. The same radio set also contained Hyperaktive – Let Me Play.

There's a female vocal in the unknown track, but I can't make out the lyrics clearly from the cassette recording.

Does anyone recognise it, or perhaps recognise the label/producer from the sound? Any help would be massively appreciated — I'd love to finally ID this after nearly 30 years!

I don't know this one, but I just checked & I've got 'Let Me Play' on one of my old demo tapes from Dec 1998. 

Do you know who the DJ is  or what station it's recorded from?  

If you can either put up the full recording / or do a tracklist so we can see what other tunes are being played that would help.

Do you know what the vocalist is saying?  I can't quite make it out? 

Also the drum pattern in the mid section sounds almost identical to the intro of Eye Opener. So maybe the engineer was Trixxy. That would tie in to the speculation

that it was Brisk or Blatant Beats ?

I think the clip is made up of 2 tracks. The first sounds like Binary Finary - 1999 (Paul Van Dyk Remix) [Orbit] which is either pitched right up or played on 45rpm instead of 33rpm. Vinylgroover and Hixxy were both playing that track around 1998/1999.

Mixing into it is a second track (which has the female vocal), and that one comes in fully at 1:24 on the clip.

If you have the audio before the clip taken from your tape recording then you should be able to confirm if it's Binary Finary quite easily.

Check the below clip from 7:14 onwards as I think it lines up with the first track.

It does sound more like a Silk Cuts unreleased version as it sounds like DJ Fade all day long.

The female vocals sound like this is from another bootleg of Robert Miles - Moving but not ever stumbled across it before as a hardcore version.
