geist Posted June 1, 2009 Author Report Share Posted June 1, 2009 sorry, I don't know if that means you find this discouraging or what, digital labels and whatnot it's weird, coz I've been contributing to rdb off and on for years now, and you are all mostly across the ocean somewhere or otherwise distant, and I know you guys personally update this database and I appreciate it for its comprehensivity and accuracy even as a longtime record collector though, the dawning tide is daunting but inevitable...... digital releases are coming left and right, and it's not just from bedroom producers with crappy tracks (though there is always that). imo keeping track of what new music is out there, including what's fresh and innovative, is now a decentralized activity that no longer just comes from a vinyl distribution list..... you have to pay attention to blogs, forums, exclusives on various label sites, etc. so sorry for the recent digital postings (i'm getting ready to do a radio show today, so for the newest tracks vinyl through the mail isn't an option), but I think as you can see from well known labels (valve) to somewhat established labels of some repute (mindsaw, they have some vinyl in their cat also) to new digital only upstarts (touch tone), there is just a wide range of digital releases out there from labels of varying degrees of "established-ness", all selling their tunes on the big download sites and getting exposure. Personally I think they are all relevant, though I know for rdb the official cutoff criteria for what digital labels don't get inclusion in the database was kind of murky. ez Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
