Automated Access/API?

I'm writing a personal cataloguing system that tracks my Vinyl/digital collection with a bunch of extra data that RDB doesnt store (BPM, key, etc). I'd like to use RDB to seed my initial data entry when I input new records... is there a preferred automated way of accessing the rolldabeats database? I couldn't find any documentation on the matter.
