Hattrixx, I salute you... It's been nearly 8 years since I started this topic and I never thought anyone would find the source of that unknown latin percussion loop, it just sounded so obscure! Excellent find

I think I remember hearing that vocal sample (20+ years ago!) on the Paul Hardcastle sample CD called 'The Wizard' which was released by Time+Space in 1992. The gunshot sample which was used in 'The Dream Team - Stamina' is also on there. http://www.discogs.com/Paul-Hardcastle-The-Wizzard-Dance-Sampling-CD/release/3707443 http://s.pixogs.com/image/R-3707443-1341184147-5284.jpeg

If you get hold of the Zero-G Datafile 2 sample CD then check out 'menace bass' in the Roland Juno 106 samples section, as it's the same one (reese bass) that was used in Ray Keith's terrorist + loads of other tunes. Most people say it was sampled from that Kevin 'Reese' Sanderson track 'Just Another Chance' but I don't think it was as that menace bass sample is EXACTLY the same!
-
If we list the first one then we'll need to list the other two datafile CDs as well, mainly because they all have so many classic samples on each of them.

It's clean for a few bars in the middle of SL2 - Way In My Brain
-
My ears are telling me it's from the Jnr Walker tune. EDIT: Heh, it could well be from the Prince tune! I just sampled his scream and if you pitch the tail end of his scream up by about a semitone, it sounds pretty close to what they used in Jump Around. The Jnr Walker sample (on the youtube clip) isn't clean, like the Prince sample is, as it has a snare drum mixed in with it. Unless the original vinyl has hard panned left and right stereo sound, it may be clean too. I'm undecided now!

Also used in Equinox - From Above [breakin, 2004]

I just compared that break to the unknown one and they *are* quite similar but definitely not the same.

Break name: When I Was Young Artist: D.O.P.E. Track name: When I Was Young (DJ Easy B & T Bag's Revisited Mix) Original release: 12", D.O.P.E. - The Dope On Plastic EP Label: Rugged Vinyl Cat number: RUGGED1 Year: 1993 Example: Remarc - One 4 Da Vibes [Dollar Records, 1993] Clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtByzXDB6WU A second generation break which uses the original Amen break with an additional saxophone squeak (sampled from James Brown - Escape-ism) mixed in on the 8th beat of the bar. Simple but effective and sampled by many other producers.

3 Sample - Street of Rage

It's more likely that 4 Hero just applied a volume gating effect to their amen break, rather than sampling it directly from Lost Entity. Everyone was using that stuttering effect on breaks circa 93/94. All you had to do was program MIDI controller #7 (channel volume) to alternate between full volume and zero volume (in sync with the beat) on the same MIDI channel that the breakbeat was on.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077474/ "Do you know what always amazes me about you? A guy with your attitude... never carries a gun. That's stupid, very stupid." Sampled in: Rhymeside - The Driver [Mob Handed, 1995]

Sounds about right to me - good find! I mentioned in another topic a while back that I suspected this break was from an old rap/hiphop tune.

Solved at last!! Solo & Aura - Take Heed http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/mo_wax/mwex005/ I got the right flute sample, the break was wrong though; It used "Do The Do" rather than "Humpty Dump". Thanks to dmt for starting this topic: http://www.rolldabeats.com/forum/index.php?/topic/55368-track-id-time-is-running-out/ and thanks to jj for IDing the tune.
-
YES! I've also been looking for this tune since around 1995/6 but didn't have a clip of it available - it's been stuck in my memory for like 15 years. Would love to know what this one is too, please!

The "Mmmmm-hmmm" at the very start is sampled in DJ Dextrous & Rude Boy Keith - Lovable
