geist Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 Hello, I've been somewhat absent from this board for a couple of months. The thing is, record collecting has really starting to get overwhelming! For starters it seems more and more people are dumping their collections for cheap, and I snatch them up... then I've also branched off beyond just dnb to have more dubstep and some techno so sorry I have not been updating corrections/contributions. There was a time when I felt some sense of mastery and control over my record archives. Now I think I need like a week off of life to shelve, sort, and get a grip on it all who else feels this? Record buying when you're a young punk dj many years ago vs record buying now, when you're a sage collector with piles of records coming in from different corners every week? kind of crazy....I need to get back on where I left off entering my dnb collection into rdb and noting any mistakes... i was going alphabetically by label and left of somewhere around 'd' !!! geist Posted March 14, 2008 Author Report Posted March 14, 2008 ok I guess maybe I'm alone? I was just noticing how record collecting when you're an aspiring young dj differs from when you're older and there's a lot of records to go through, more than I could even completely listen to, but not enuf time! FuZion Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 I'm with you here. I've been Drum n Bassin for almost 10 years now. I find the amount of tunes being released each week just phenomenal. Especially since it is, every week. I tend to only aim for the new stuff but there's always things I've missed & it would be almost impossible to hear every one, let alone own the buggers. Still, gotta give props to the RDB crew because we have a quality reference here if ever we wanna track one the details of any missed tunes. FuZion. Quote
