.lm. Posted November 16, 2012 Report Posted November 16, 2012 hi! how the new search should be functioning? i'll give you an example: i want to search for 'promised land', a compilation which was released on higher limits: http://rolldabeats.com/label/higher_limits if i type -t promised land into search box it gives 145 results. none of them is the release i'm looking for... and most of them doesn't even include 'promised land' in the title. http://i.imgur.com/WkIe5.png http://i.imgur.com/iP48W.png any help on this? i'm used to do searches with the old interface.... scott_insight Posted November 17, 2012 Report Posted November 17, 2012 I've had problems with the new search as well. I'm not sure things have been ironed out properly yet? woudn't a -t search just bring up track titles and not compilation titles though? however using your example, there was a track on 'Various Artists - Promised Land - Volume 1; titled 'Future Sound Of Hardcore - Promised Land' which the -t promised land search should bring up. it does half way down page 1, but there are 4 search results before it where the artist name is promised land and the track name is something else. So i'm not sure it's sorting the order of relevance correctly, I had this problem myself the other day and even though i typed in the track name exactly, it was bringing up less relevant results near the top, i had to search by artist instead.. but if there isnt a way to search for compilation, album or ep name, that would be handy! .lm. Posted November 17, 2012 Author Report Posted November 17, 2012 it used to search both tracks titles & release titles with -t switch. dunno how it should be working atm though... any info on this, mr. haste? Quote
haste Posted November 17, 2012 Report Posted November 17, 2012 Oops. I need to rewrite the help, it seems! You'll need to use "-r promised land". Scott's right that -t just searches tracks, -r is for releases. http://rolldabeats.com/search/release/promised_land Is the link that you want, although this release is currently not being returned. This is due to a problem with the release search index which is being rebuilt as we speak! We'll also be bringing back the drop down option for the search next week so that you can choose what you search instead of having to use the short cuts if you want. Quote
scott_insight Posted November 17, 2012 Report Posted November 17, 2012 sounds good, thanks haste i did try the -r search last night but it changed the -r to a *r (from minus to asterix) each time and didnt seem to work, probably for reasons just mentioned. Quote
haste Posted November 17, 2012 Report Posted November 17, 2012 Ah, I hadn't noticed that. Cheers for pointing it out! Will fix it now Quote
.lm. Posted November 17, 2012 Author Report Posted November 17, 2012 ah, ok thanks one more thing: what's the organization criteria for showing the search results? (what is displayed first and so on...) Quote
haste Posted November 18, 2012 Report Posted November 18, 2012 The results are ordered by how well they match the keywords. Kinda hard to explain this in any more detail, we just use the standard order that the database feeds back when doing a full text search. It could be manipulated but seems to get things pretty spot on when I've been using it Quote
