Ornette Posted February 2, 2008 Report Posted February 2, 2008 Break name: Demon Break? Artist: Demon BoyzTrack name: Dett (Speaker Feeder Mix)Label: Tribal BassCat number: TRIBE4Year: 1992Producer: Michael West (Rebel MC) Example:FBD Project - BlastedDJ Clarkee - Have A Good Time Notes:OK thanks to the crew on B2VOS. Samuel & Beagle have indicated this beat originally comes from the Demon Boyz tune above. Its clearly second generation, but I can't work out what its built on, despite many years of wondering. It might be a layering of two - I just think I noticed that break from House Of Pain - Put Ya Head Out in it.(now whats that one called?) The Demon Boyz record clearly adds hi-hat & also a little trumpet blast at the end of each bar that diasppears during the verses - both elements heard in subsequent uses of this 'break'. So i guess this is the original source of this second generation break! Quote
Macdaddy_93 Posted February 14, 2008 Report Posted February 14, 2008 The House Of Pain Tune samples: Turner, Ike & Tina - Cussin', Cryin' and Carryin' On (Drums) Quote
MeMyself&I Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 Also in "Put Ya Head On It" I can hear the beat from Creedence Clearwater Revival's "As Long As I Can See The Light". Quote
Ornette Posted February 24, 2008 Author Report Posted February 24, 2008 The House Of Pain Tune samples: Turner, Ike & Tina - Cussin', Cryin' and Carryin' On (Drums) Thats the one! I actually asked guys on the-breaks.com what it was and they told me that was the one. In fact, I think it might be my favourite break ever! In fact, I just picked up a tune I been after for 18 years that uses it! - Take 6- Spread Love (DJ Mark Remix) Does anyone else think they can hear this one in the 'Dett' break? I know Wax on B2VOS indicated he was pretty certian that 'Dett' was based around the 'Sweet Pea' break. I have to say I'm not to sure about that but maybe some others out there with fresh ears can have a little listen. I'll upload a clip from the Take 6 remix asap. Quote
