  1. Are you sure the YouTube video is the correct recording? It doesn't sound right to me.
  2. 16- Sounds far more like the Weather Report use on 'Pass the Hand Grenade' by Eric B and Rakim to me. 18- Sounds like the Think Break used on Macka Brown- 'Go Down Baby' (Labello Blanco) which precedes 'Snowball'. Edit- 'Snowball' does sound even closer, though.
  3. Roni Size 'Barcode' As with Krust 'Off key' definitely saw this in a Mixmag tracklisting around '97, but Google doesn't bring up anything.
  4. Probably, but 3rd Bass themselves have taken the Konstantin Raudive lines from the end of 'Rubber Ring' by The Smiths- you can hear part of The Smiths recording on the 3rd Bass tune that hasn't been cut off before the sample, for some reason.
  5. Vocal intro plus opening bars- Ratpack- Searchin' for my Rizla (Big Giant)
  6. DJ Krust- 'Off Key'. Sure I saw this in a tracklisting (for a One in the Jungle set I think) printed in Mixmag around 1997. Anyone know anything about it / heard of it? A Google search brings up precisely nothing.
  7. Probably should be migrated to a sample of Toney Lee 'Reach up', as there doesn't seem to be any evidence that it's sampled from Phats and Small. Contrary to what many people seem to think, the vocal on Phats and Small 'Turn Around' was a direct sample from 'Reach up', it wasn't resung by Ben Ofoedu. He just performed on live versions and some of Phats and Small's later releases.
  8. Well you are correct Weltall, and you don't need to be a moderator to realise that many moderators are nowhere near as diligent as they should be, but mikeee mk2 in his post seems to think the errors render the site useless, which is far from the truth. There are also a number of errors on this site (that have also migrated to Discogs) which I have not felt compelled to point out until now, but given that I have now registered (initially to respond to the aforementioned post) I feel as though I might as well contribute a bit. After all , we're all aiming for the same thing, right? It's also worth noting that of the errors I have spotted on this site, the correct information can very often be found on....... Who Sampled.
  9. Those last two (Siren and DJ Die) are incorrect. It's not the same vocal as the 'live and direct' from the KRS-One tune. That 'live and direct' is clearly sampled from the start of 'Remix for P is free' by Boogie Down Productions.
  10. The Sy and Unknown track samples this cover version of 'Mean Machine' not the Last Poets version. Don't know about the others but I would guess that's the case with those too as it's a clean vocal, unlike Last Poets.
  11. Original source isn't MC Lyte though, it's Millie Jackson "All the way lover" from a 1979 live album.
  12. The 'ready on the left' sample- used in multiple hip hop records, most famously 'Jump Around' by House of Pain, crops up on a number of sources and may well have been sampled from this film (another probable source is the film 'Wild Style' and its soundtrack) but the earliest source is actually this release https://www.discogs.com/No-Artist-Sounds-Of-Basic-Training/release/1342350 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTGmaC1zo7w Discovered a while back on Who Sampled- they're not just adverts and inaccuracies you know.
  13. Not felt compelled to register with this site until now, but as a regular Who Sampled contributor I feel I have to defend the site. Yes, the adverts are a pain- but if it keeps the website online and in business, so be it. Once you are logged in and become a regular contributor, it becomes ad free anyway. Yes, there are many inaccuracies, but this is being worked on and the inaccuracies are far outweighed by credible content. The number of inaccuracies is in some ways not surprising due to the large number of contributors but at least it is easy to sort the wheat from the chaff as you can listen to everything easily. There are actually probably fewer errors than you think, I have lost count of the number of people who register to the site, leave one erroneous comment about a supposed error and then disappear never to be seen again. As for the sample section of this site, you would think it would be a lot easier to maintain quality control given the forum here seems to average fewer than double figures in postings per day, but I have noticed a number of obvious errors on here recently. Maybe I should share the knowledge and point them out.... that is if you promise not to ban me for shattering your illusions of superiority.
