  1. Yeah, I've heard that subtle drum variation at that point on a mix tape before. That was my acetate with the Casablanca intro on it, although as far as I could tell it was the same as the released version on GLO (i.e. a Bukem intro plate) - that said, I don't think I've ever listened to it that closely enough to check the arrangement of the drums! My tunes are all boxed up atm otherwise I'd check.

    Music House

As Manipulator says, Music House, like all the other plate cutting places aren't labels, so I guess its a tricky one really - for e.g. I've got copies of Dope Pt2 on both Music House and JTS dubplates but would you really want to list them? And is there much value of doing so? Discogs tends to have dubplate/acetate tracks, where listed, as simply 'Not On Label'. Admittedly, the only situation where I've listed acetates/dubplates in that situation are where the track hasn't been released or its significant enough to warrant an entry - I ummed and arred for quite a while over listing my plate of Dextrous - Moonlight, and only did so in the end because it simply wasn't listed anywhere else on discogs (as I don't believe the 'Rites of Passage' CD is listed). Interested to see what Haste/Logic consider for here?
  3. Nice one, I've been trying to recall this doc for ages - all I could remember about it was Rap and Trace in Lucky Spin!
  4. Totally get ya re. Kate Bush btw - expect you've got the Aerial album - love it
  5. This: http://www.discogs.com/More-Bass-Than-Fingers-Batfink/release/167317 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPzLi35a6RY
  6. Cool So it's 'Mozarts Bedroom Mix' - yeah, just that little rougher around the edges (in a good way!)
  7. I think humana is referring to a version/remix of the Berri/New Atlantic/U4EA tune from 1993 - with some subtle changes. The Go Mental tune didn't appear until 1996 so it's not that as it's too late.
  8. Yeah... I thought I had stumbled upon this when I managed to some old Rugged plates from Ben... but sadly it was the version that appeared on GLR (along with some Intense bits but either the same as what was released - or as good as given the little difference).
  9. Ooh, found an mp3 of it: New Atlantic/Berri - Sunshine After The Rain (U4EA Breakbeat Mix) The more I think about this, I'm sure I recently ripped an old Don tape to mp3 which had Atmosphere (or someone else) dropping it - I'll have a look around and see if I can find it to compare
  10. Well, I certainly recall both Atmosphere and Geewiz dropping this on Don - but I'm sure it was the U4EA breakbeat mix of Berri This actually came up a while ago on the (what was) Don forum and I did pull out a clip of the U4EA mix then (sadly, that link has now expired, and I've not got the 12 myself). If it's the one, it utilises the Urban Shakedown - Some Justice (and also Criminal Minds - Baptised by Dub) breakbeat in parts, but also has a more 4:4 techno part too - with Berri's vocalled version??
  11. Easy Neurotix! (thanks for your PM - thought I'd reply here for the benefit of everyone) I can certainly bung that Youtube clip in front of Easy B (Ben James - one half of D.O.P.E./Rugged Vinyl head honcho) and see if he knows it - although I've found he can sometimes be a little uncertain even what stuff he's put out in the past, lol. I'll be honest, I've never heard that clip before, has some bits that mark it out as a possible D.O.P.E./Rugged production but tbh I'm not sure it's a mix of Travelling at all. That mix that Ornette/JJ refers to is basically an early proto of Travelling that Ben confirmed - put together in 1993 but they left it and when they picked it back up again sometime later, the progression of hardcore/jungle had moved on a bit in the meantime and so they stripped it back to a more laid back jungle/drum'n'bass/Bukem vybe (which as you know, eventually appeared on GLR).
  12. Oh my gosh! It's a corker!!! Phaze III was a good DJ too, always excellent selections - very underrated.
  13. Wahey, it's finally arrived!! Cheers Ornette, on the d/l!
  14. Has anyone heard anything more about what's happening with this fucking tune? I heard that after the TP was put out (Extreme ya lucky bugger!), they decided to hold back the Calibre track but it all seems to have gone quiet now on both fronts

    PB1

That's pretty odd!!! I was going to say the same as extreme here - they've mixed up the plates and labelling when being pressed up - but, that would seem to be more plausible if both tunes were UK, but the other is listed as a US press?!

    SMF

Also, although not SMF related but Rugged Vinyl (hope haste and logic can forgive me for posting here in this thread....!!) I'm trying to get more information about this too: http://www.discogs.com/Unknown-Artist-Unknown-Title/release/1660942 If you look at the history, this was initially submitted as a double-sider, but it's now been changed to a single-sider Now, as far as I was aware, RUGGED 5 was scheduled to be an early version of DOPE - Travelling, but was shelved and eventually found it's way onto GLR. Now, whether this is turns out to be some very rare TP of either the version that finally did appear on GLR, or even an earlier version we'll just have to see!!! Again. Ben seemed to indicate that RUGGED 5 itself was shelved DJ-Producers and label owners never ever seem to know what they've actually wrote or put out half the time!!!

    SMF

Tell me about it - when I spoke to Ben he didn't even think it existed!!! Gonna try and bell him soon as I think that's him that's submitted it to discogs! I think its safe to say we're only looking at a couple of TP's in existence at the most but I wanna hear more!!
  18. Cheers caedo261, I've got Solution - What Can I Do? here also, so pretty sure it's R.A.W. - has anyone got a clip though of R.A.W. for me to listen to? Had a look around the net but no joy.
  19. That R.A.W. all sounds very familar to the grey matter... cheers, logic, will check it out. It's not the L Double I know, as I have a dubplate of that right here (I've just been reminded how bloody good Little Rollers Vol 1 is again!)
  20. Patois lyrics in ragga records never fail to amuse me... 'sink yuh third leg'
  21. Mid-late 94 jungle tune - which I can't remember huge amounts of detail other than it used a male vocal refrain "what can i do?" from an old rare groove tune (which itself escapes me at the mo!). Will try and find a clip, or recall the original sample source that might help....!
  22. According to http://letras.terra.com.br/buju-banton/1433627/: Gal fi beg Anytime yuh hold dem inna yuh bed Cock dem up high An sink yuh third leg
  23. Stumbled upon this old usenet newsgroup post t'other day - that really took me back... Funny thing is I can vividly recall at least 4 or 5 of those old studio numbers like yesterday!
  24. Hehe, nice one mate. Yeah, ten years ago, crikey. One of these days, I'm gonna try and get the rest of the old VHS (yes, VHS!) tapes off of Nut and get them ripped before they break up - I hope he's still got them intact, as there was about 30 hours or so of studio recordings on them.
