theorie Posted January 27, 2013 Author Report Posted January 27, 2013 After years of wondering, I have just this evening realised that the 'My God' vocal sanple in the Mad Dog tune - www.rolldabeats.com/release/12698/underdog_recordings/udr005 - is from Alien - it is from the scene where Kane cuts away the helmet from John Hurt's character. I'm sure this can easily be varified. For so long, having read the book, and 2001, it was my belief that this sample was linked to 'My god! It's full of stars!'. Quote

JVXP Posted November 5, 2019 Report Posted November 5, 2019 From the soundtrack, Jerry Goldsmith's Hyper Sleep has been sampled on: Chameleon - Links - [Good Looking Records] Link - Amenity - [Evolution] Ray Keith - Special Technique - [Chronic] All samples are wrong. Over at DOA someone asked where it was from and the YT algorithm actually identified it in one of the linked videos. It's from a library CD.https://www.discogs.com/No-Artist-Space/release/987259 https://www.dogsonacid.com/threads/chameleon-links-sample.800701/ Quote
Ian_s Posted November 6, 2019 Report Posted November 6, 2019 Brilliant, that's great. I'll remove my posts from here. If a new post is generated with the correct info, should it be credited as Paul Shaw & David Rogers - Lost In Space? Quote
Chinny Reckon Posted November 8, 2019 Report Posted November 8, 2019 Easy to say now perhaps as 'Lost in Space' is clearly the source, but I would have questioned the Jerry Goldsmith connection anyway. Although it's a similar sound, it's not played in the same way. So many times I have come across claims of a sample where the claim is that the producer doing the sampling has manipulated it, pitched it down, edited it or whatever. Then someone comes up with the actual source and it's obvious because it's identical. The point being- if it (a proposed sample source) doesn't sound quite right, it probably isn't. Quote
