Asking
Hi, any ideas where's the breakbeat from? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gI6X5x_0u8U You can here it on several rave tunes from the early 90s (Altern 8 etc.). It looks like this breakbeat appeared first time in 1991 but i'm not sure if "Blow" is the creator or just sampled it from somehere... Any ideas? Thanks! H_M_M
not sure but first release I know of with it on is Quadrophenia - Man with a master plan ? I could be wrong. not sure if that's the orignal source.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6vsy1lRJgw
mikeeee-mk2
Agree that Quadrophonia seems to be the first instance of this break. Sounds like the "think" break layered with at least one other break and possibly drum machine or other percussion samples
H_M_M
yeah, that's Quadro tune is from 1990. I think there was this EP called the 'Warriors EP' (not to be confused with addiss posse, let the warriors dance) from 1991 that had a collection of breaks on side B and that was one of them. can't find it though. Also sampled by Awesome 3 on "Don't Go" (the original mix), layered with the "Fools Gold" breakbeat to make it ruffer / fatter.
