eXtreme Posted February 10, 2017 Report Posted February 10, 2017 https://soundcloud.c...ebruary-1996-id From another recording of this show : https://www.hardscore.com/?p=4559 that has this extra track on it. Cheers Quote
Ornette Posted February 11, 2017 Report Posted February 11, 2017 Sounds a bit Ray Keith ish to me I like it though! Nice tune Quote
eXtreme Posted February 11, 2017 Author Report Posted February 11, 2017 Yeah that was my thought on it, even though those bass hits right at the start sound just like something from DJ SS / Formation, its got a RK sound overall. Checked most stuff on his offshoot labels, only one don't have / cant find audio for is Penny Black 10 - UFO Volume 3. Quote
Ornette Posted February 12, 2017 Report Posted February 12, 2017 I only have 1 & 5, so don't know about that one unfortunately Quote
Ornette Posted February 20, 2017 Report Posted February 20, 2017 It's not 3... just tracked it down. Quote
selectabwoy Posted February 25, 2017 Report Posted February 25, 2017 On a related note, Ornette, do you have any idea where that little piano has been sampled from or used before? It's been driving me crazy today, can't put my finger on it Quote
Ornette Posted March 1, 2017 Report Posted March 1, 2017 Selectabwoy great mix on soundcloud! Stumbled on it when looking up info on 'Breakthrough', made my day to hear that They sound clean to me, like played right off a synth, maybe the M1... who knows. Which is something else I think Ray Keith wasn't shy to do quite a bit in his tunes One thing that marks it out as not being SS is the timestretch on the beats, which is not characteristic of his tunes at all (in fact there's only two I can think of and they're both from very early 93) Quote

Been racking my brains for some elusive tune but have come up with squat so I'll go with you on this Thanks btw, really glad that you liked the mix as you're pretty much my target listener! I left you a reply on SC, but in short, big thanks to yourself and all the contributors to the sample/break ID subforums here, it's been an invaluable resource for me in putting these mixes together. Cheers, Will / selectabwoy Quote
jj Posted March 16, 2017 Report Posted March 16, 2017 It's a remix of Sacred - Kall Da Kops. Here's a clip of Brockie playing it from the start on his Kool FM show on 7th January 1996: https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/deepinsidetheoldskool-clips/Brockie+-+Kool+FM+07.01.1996+-+Sacred+-+Kall+Da+Kops+Ray+Keith+remix.mp3 Ray Keith was playing it in sets around July / August 1995. eXtreme Posted March 16, 2017 Author Report Posted March 16, 2017 Great ID JJ cheers, my clip missed every recognisable part pretty much If Ray Keith was playing it that early, good chance its by him - i was speaking to selectabwoy about it - we were convinced it was by him. Quote
eXtreme Posted March 17, 2017 Author Report Posted March 17, 2017 cool, moved to unreleased forum. Quote
