Not sure if this has been suggested before, but perhaps in the actual database itself, we have a section which says "Samples such and such tune".

For example, for DJ Zinc - Pranksters it would say somewhere:

Samples Bob James - Nautilus (Intro Loop)

(above information collected from this thread in the forum)

I've noticed some Discogs releases have this under the "comments" section of their website, but seeing as this forum focuses quite heavily on where things are sampled from, it'd be a good addition to have its own section!

Also perhaps not a bad idea to do the same for Breaks too, so when looking in the database you can see which breaks the tune has in it.

Just a thought!

Yeah, that would be wicked. I think things like this should have their own section on the releases in the database. Might be a bit of hard work but it'd be worth it in the end, I think.

This is the whole reason we began collecting this data in the first place. We've always planned on integrating it into the release info... It's just a long way off, I think.

Basically, each release is going to have several buttons: lyrics, soundclip, break, sample source, and "alternate release" (or something like that)

what would be the point in that? ;)

Well, because all the info is archived nicely and is easily searchable, I guess. In the database, would there be extra search functions so people can search for a certain sample source/break/etc..?

Yup, it'll all be full serachable in every way that you might want it to be. All nicely linked etc. etc. etc.

Well I can understand stuff like sound clips and stuff taking a long time to do, but stuff like breaks and samples is only going to take longer to do as the forum gets bigger and bigger, so perhaps that stuff could be implemented sooner than later?

I think that's also for that reason, that the way to submit info should be respected. (e.g "artist - title [label]")

So that it could be easilly "automatised" when anyone (Thijs, i think hmm?) will add this feaure to the db.
