Straightforwardly, this ep is the most condensed form of neurofunk ever reached in the brief subgenre's history. To my astonishment, It never broke out as a benchmark as it should have been. In It, one can find all foundational aspects of neurofunk. Above all, a dark and yet sensual mood, the kind of "erotization of anxiety" which Simon Reynolds pointed out as a defining aesthetic feature of that sound. Broadcast's synth score is just that. Horror and its sinister appeal. The Burkean Sublime.
