  1. I was looking for a youtube clip of this and found this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbRpk_uf98Q Seems like The Prodigy sampled the intro for their classic remix of Art Of Noise's "Instruments of Darkness". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbRpk_uf98Q
  2. Should I list all the incredible stuff that they did in the early 90s? Mark Spoon alone (RIP) was a genius.
  3. http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/reinforced_records/rivet1256/ The characteristic bleep in "Paradise Lost (Last Action Hero)" is sampled from the Jam & Spoon remix of their own classic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zXEUavccpk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTOK9c-NT38
  4. Actually, that's Moby's version of "Everybody In The Place".
  5. I completely forgot about this one. It is up there with the most experimental stuff from that era. But then again what's new about Marc Trauner being a visionary genius?
  6. From the Ex:El album. Intro synth lines. Used by Blame in "Neptune" as the main hook, slightly chopped and looped.
  7. It's on the same compo that has the other Morenas track sampled by Ganja Kru, Bukem and Invisible Man. I reckon this one is exclusive to the compilation on DFC.
  8. Strings and synthesized sax that drop out at the very end of the track. Looped as the main theme of Deep Blue - The Helicopter Tune (Fantasy #2) EDIT: scold me as much as you want, I deserve it for getting the name of the tracks from the same compo completed mixed up.
  9. The chimes on the intro were also used by Hype as Ganja Kru on "Computerize (Cops)". That compilation is magnificent, I just recalled of another blatant sample used by Deep Blue from a track off it, will post immediately.
  10. Thanks, if this is the same one used by Roger Sanchez on Underground Solution's "Luv Dancin'", you just made my day. I'm quite sure Mark and Tom used the same sample as Roger.
  11. From the Fozbee & Cooz/Dimension - Psychology EP (what a release!! FSOL jacked plenty of sounds from it). DJ Crystl - Warpdrive (both the original and remix). Synthpad from the intro used by Crystl for the drop-outs, the main one on the background, not the strings.
  12. From The 1979 "Englishman" album. First bar of strings and horns. Devious D & Jay J - Time Of Our Lives (Jungle Mix) PS: tried to use the search and look for this tune, just couldn't understand why it wasn't already listed here since both the sampling tune and the sampled artist were already mentioned plenty of times on this forum. Hope I didn't double it though.
  13. Tom & Jerry - All Of My (SHELL012) A loop of the intro, first bar of strings and b-line. Since I can't get a hold of a sound clip, reckon a should do the trick Spotted by my man Davi Darkage.
  14. Or Nookie, for that matter...
  15. Vocal "it's Yours!" Nas - The World Is Yours Doc Scott - It's Yours it's quite clean at the 3rd drop, when the chorus comes in, approximately at 1'05"
  16. Are you positive that the sides aren't switched? Because I've seen this 12" and I could swear the track in question is called Lonely, which is the 2nd track on the AA side, not the 2nd on the A side, which is Thoughts Of Mind.
  17. Weird, I've got the album, "What's The 411", on CD and my version is longer, 5'15". The sample is actually at 4'40" of the original song.
  18. "This is a warning" Codename John Feat. Grooverider - The Warning/Warned
  19. Actually the original source is NYC Peech Boys - Life Is Something Special from the 1983 album of the same name, as used by Adonte and Todd Terry as Black Riot on his amazing "A Day In The Life" tune. I reckon this thread should be edited/deleted.
  20. Tango - Project 1 (Remix). From the Powerplay Volume 1 compo on Formation, 1994. Same sample as in "Wicked", horn riff and the basic riddim loop. Honestly dunno if this is a remix of the first Tango EP on F Project... does anyone know? Did it use the same sample?
  21. "Hold It Now" Tekniq - Hold It Now (FORM12068)
  22. Taken from the album Bola Sete at The Monterey Jazz Festival (Verve 1967). "...this is soul samba..." Legendary brasilian guitar player, bit from the speech at the beginning of his presentation at the festival where he introduces himself and his first song. Marky & XRS - Soul Samba (Innerground 2004)
  23. "... will the darkness come to set me free.. and comfort me" Depth Charge - Depth Charge, off the Nine Deadly Venoms album (Vinyl Solution, 1994). Appears from 2'20" and onwards. Cymande_The_Recluse.mp3
  24. Off the U.F.Orb album, 1992. "there still no such reality as something..." (word cued up on repeat, can't understand) Intro for Ram Trilogy - No Reality Probably taken originally from a film, but it's so clean on the original track's intro that it is most likely the source for the sample. TheOrb_Majestic.mp3
  25. Sorry to be kinda anal (aren't we all? if not, what'd be the point of this whole forum, innit?), but I don't think that's the proper source, since this horn section melody is used also by King Tubby in his "Rude Boy Dub" as the intro, and it is clean, crystal clear. From King Tubby Presents the Roots Of Dub, Clock Tower Records, 1976... prolly a repress, being a canadian label, but who knows...
