  14. So I actually picked up a copy of this LP on vinyl the other day. Although it was recorded on November 7, 1970, it actually wasn't released until 1995. According to the sleeve it was part of the Blue Note Rare Groove Series. I believe there is also a CD version of this release. 17. I don't know why I forgot about the clean drums on the intro. I have a loop of this I made a while back ready to upload as a clip. Still not sure if I like how it sounds at faster tempos though.
  18. The break from "There Was A Time" is only attainable if you pan the sample, taking the drums from the right channel and leaving out the bassline from the left channel. This is what I've read from several sources about Paul C. I don't have the record itself, but I've been warned that not every version of the tune is the same. I've been looking for a copy of the 45 for years, but no luck. The song is also on the Dee Felice LP, "In Heat," but this may be a version without the break. I've actually tried to loop up the break from Give The Drummer Some but I could never get a coherent beat out of it. But I was using the LP version, so it's very possible that there's a cleaner sample on the Bonus Beats version included on the 12" release, which I don't have. The problem with GTDS is that the Funky Drummer is also layered over it, so I don't know if you can get a clean loop of the "There Was A Time" break alone.

  22. Yeah, this was used on PFM - Danny's Song off of Logical Progression 1. I've actually been meaning to add this one for a while, keep forgetting about it!
  23. Multiple reggae tunes are sampled for this one! I don't know about the 'Jah Love' vocal but he definitely used the flute and 'jah' vocal from the beginning of "Curly Dub" by the Upsetters, off of the Super Ape album.
