  1. Nice! Nice! Nice! This will probably sound like a cliché but these old tunes still sound as fresh today as they did back then. They all have that 'vibe' that seems lacking in a lot of new music these days.
  2. That'll be '24 Hour Experience - Together'
  3. Niiiice! Also used in Source Direct - The Cult [Metalheadz]
  4. The other bit in the tune says "I come not with peace, but with a sword." and it's also from the same film.
  5. Great tune but that's not the one. I think it must be on one of the smaller labels of the time. I've covered all the main labels over the years and haven't found it yet. Aaaaaah this one is killing me! 15 years and I still can't ID it! The search continues.
  6. "Far from a river where things grow green." Used in: Cosmic Brian - Far From A River [Ruff Quality, 1992] T.I.C. - Far Gone (Original & Remix) [second Movememt, 1995]
  7. Here's an idea. Would it be possible to add a 'SOLVED' button or feature in the Tune ID's forum? If you've posted an ID and it gets solved then you can click a button to quickly add SOLVED to the topic title or sub-title. Other sites do this for similar things and it works quite well I think. Saves time reading topics only to find out they've already been identified. I know you can edit the main post and edit the title that way but it would be quicker to just click a button at the top or bottom of a topic. What do you think?
  8. *BUMP* Bumping this one AGAIN as i still haven't found it after all these years.... that flute sample is pretty recognisable but I reckon the tune must be on a more obscure label? This is the only tune I have stuck in my memory from 15 years ago that's left for me to find. I *MUST* find this tune, hehe.
  9. Sorry for dragging up this old topic but I've only just found out the tune I originally posted about is in fact the REMIX of Digital Pressure - Watch Dis Space: SDR & Subsonic - No Sound FX (Watch Dis Space Part 2) Just thought I would post the info in case anyone else ever happens to be searching for this tune and finds this topic.
  10. The sample is clean right at the start of James Horner - The Hotel on the Red Heat soundtrack. There are loads of good samples to be had from some of the tracks on there - in particular some nice and dark synth pad atmospheres and some jazzy sax licks
  11. Yeah that sound is in Red Heat too - just watched it on TV and heard it: @4:46
  12. If you look up the Jungle Mania label on Discogs, its description says: "UK ragga jungle label from 1994 on, headed by Mark Ryder of Strictly Underground fame. Many releases were white labels only with minimal information, usually due to naughty sampling." 'Nuff said really. Also read the review at the bottom of the page on there, some fella saying that Mark had loads of unsold vinyl left over from everything he ever got pressed - it was all going in a skip - even the master pressing plates!!!
  13. I just did a search on here thinking this would be an obvious one but couldn't find anything... where is that Rhodes sample in the intro sampled from? I think it's used in 'Human Being - The Box Opened' as well.
  14. That *is* the apache break, no doubt about it. EDIT: Sounds like it could actually be a second gen apache from the instrumental mix of Hardnoise - Untitled ? @1:03
  15. Nice! That's EXACTLY how I used to make tunes back in the 90s! Amiga + OctaMED with loads of samples. Interesting how Aphrodite did the volume fading on each drum hit in steps of ten: C60,C50,C40,C30,C20 etc as I used to do it starting at C64 (full volume) and going down evenly in steps from that. Looks easier his way though! Thanks for posting this as I love anything to do with oldskool production.
  16. Good find! The waves and seagulls are used in Jonny L - Tychonic Cycle [XL Recordings]
  17. "We are the things that were and shall be again." As sampled in DJ Dub Rush - Da Gathering [back II Back]
  18. In the fight scene near the end, Kiefer Sutherland says "Join us" as sampled in DJ Dub Rush - Da Gathering [back II Back] @1:12
  19. Youtube won't let me view the bukem video - it says "This video contains content from Channel 4, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds." so I can't see that one! I can see the source direct one though but the quality ain't too good, here's what I can identify, in no particular order: Atari ST running Cubase Roland (PC series - not sure of exact number) MIDI Controller keyboard Akai S3000 sampler E-mu Orbit sound module Alesis M-EQ 230 equaliser Roland JV-1080 sound module Tascam DA-30 MkII DAT Recorder Oberheim Matrix 1000 sound module E-mu sampler (possibly E64 - hard to tell!) is in there right at the top of the rack Also looks like a Roland JV-2080 is in there but switched off Behringer? audio compressor Unknown mixing desk All of that equipment I've mentioned above is pretty typical of what most producers were using back then. Alesis Midiverb/Quadraverb effects units were popular too. So were most of the Roland, Korg and Yamaha synths and sound modules. Akai samplers were the norm with E-mu samplers also being used a fair bit. Compressors were used an awful lot, like the Alesis 3060 and various audio exciters/enhancers/expanders (eg Aphex Aural Exciter) which gave a certain 'sound' to the overall mix. Not forgetting Mackie and Soundcraft mixing desks to mix all the audio channels together - they were the two most popular brands of mixers at the time. Hah, those were the days! Reading Future Music and Sound On Sound magazines, looking at the interviews with people like Norman Cook, Orbital, Aphex Twin, etc etc... drooling over their studio equipment. These days it's all mainly done on a computer - not good!

    Truper Vol 3

Oh good! You saved me some time there as I was about to go through all the 'ultimate breaks & beats' LPs as I could only remember hearing it on one of those.

    Truper Vol 3

Yep, Ornette is right. I was just going to reply saying it was that break but I couldn't think of an obvious example - Ornette beat me to it, hehe! I know I've heard the original source before and thought "Oh it's that break" but I'm racking my brain for the details.
  22. Also used in Tekniq - Forbidden Reality [Formation]
  23. http://www.discogs.com/Various-The-Drum-Sessions/release/672053 Download: http://route66sl.wordpress.com/2010/03/12/louis-bellsonshelly-mannewillie-bobopaul-humphrey-the-drum-session-1976/
  24. Ah nice find there! So that sample would also be the same one used in 'Jump' and 'Jump MK II' seeing as Presha III is a remix/part 3 of the previous two.
  25. Break name: 1993 Artist: The Soul Searchers Track name: 1993 Original release: LP, The Soul Searchers - We The People Label: Sussex Cat number: SXBS 7020 Year: 1972 Example: Cold Mission (AKA 4 Hero) - Guest Spots [Reinforced, 1995] Clip: Also worth noting that this break was on the "Pascal Gabriel's Dance Samples" sample CD back in the early 90s.
