wouldn't hurt.....most labels will have the distributor details on them nowadays.

it doesn't really make much sense to bother putting the info on for old tunes though

As far as oldskool stuff goes, I don't see why anyone would want the contact information of any 10-year-old label or distribution company.

But that's just me.

true.. very true even.. that's why _if_ it is going to be added, it should be done as a release property and not label... 8)

distributor changes even for a single release, especially with represses and backstock... it ought to be a property that can be assigned to periods of time, so say releasedate-now (for most things) or, releasedate-2002 = vinyl distro, 2002-now = SRD (or something like that)

Also, a lot of records are available from *more than one* distro because of redistribution. For example everything that goes through Vital (e.g. new Full Cycle) later goes through Alphamagic for the same release. Epicenter have the same deal with Nu Urban.

that also wouldn't work.....V used to release 12s through Vinyl & albums through SRD (or the other way around) during the same period of time.

It would have to be done by release.....and you'd have to build it so that you could have more than 1 distributor for each release.....quite a lot of hassle for relatively useless info

or maybe you could just list the first (or main) distributor for that release....would be a lot easier and to be honest i dont think that info will be that vital to get 100% correct as i doubt people will be all that intersted

if you have up to date contact info for the label, then finding out who distributes it is as simple as making a phone call (or going to the website) anyway.
