OK this isn't quite right, 01.04.1997 is a tuesday, the thursday ref must have been for Tempo club night which he goes on to mention

 

Some research confirms Colin Faver's tuesday night show was dropped to make way for this show

Grooverider mentions Jumping Jack Frost as the host of the following week's show on the sunday night rota, which puts an 11 day delay between the weds night rota and its repeat on the other stations. Which does seem a little long - maybe this is the 7th March and the other was the 28th Feb after all?

 

Ok I've looked forward to another tape I have that was definitely dated from the time, that is Fabio on 13th June 1997, a network special, following the rota back from that puts all those shows a week back, someone must have skipped a show between Jan-Feb. maybe something to do with the Kiss 105 launch?

Ok so this isn't so much of a mystery, following the rota back to the 11.10.1996 which you say is correct the dates all tally up, Fabio must have done one week of his the christmas special and Grooverider the other.

That would then make this date incorrect, can't be 100% but seems I was always certain this was the first week. Fabio makes reference to two upcoming events Promised Land on the 9th Nov & Innovation on the 16th but doesn't actually say when in relation. I'm gonna put as 25th Oct 1996

Apparently this was a The Prototype Years showcase, where he had all the artists of the album in, introducing each tune and speaking a little bit about what they were doing. I was listening, but not recording as was a lot of talk and not much new music

Dombrowski could you possibly go back and check the dates on these two? According to what we know Fabio wouldn't have been on the 28th, possibly one is wrong, or maybe both are a week out. I'll keep adding what I've got in the mean time

No worries, I will go through them over the next couple of day's and see what If I can date them. But as far as I'm aware the date on the tape's are correct. But you never know, I was partial to a jamaican woodbine back in the day!

Incidently I have ripped all of my fabio tapes to mp3, but I currently have nowhere to upload them.

I would be happy to burn them to CD and post them to someone, if they wanted to upload them, or archive them.

On side A. after the PIM track - strange love, Fabio say's the following:

 

'well as I was saying before I forgot alot of records at home, and I don't even really want to say this but, I don't even think it was meant to be my show today so umm... in the studio tonight we have the Grooverider, who's come and saved my life really, cos i've got a bag of new tunes at home.

He's coming in, put it that way he's coming in.

So as per usual with me and the Rider were doing 5 - 5, were going to roll it out for you, so that is a bit of treat in itself, me and the Grooverider back to back.'

 

On side B, Grooverider can be heard heckling while Fabio is talking, but at no point during the recording does Grooverider talk to the mic directly.

 

Fabio also say's

'Promised land Tonight: Grooverider, LTJ Bukem, Slipmaster J and mc conrad'

I'll change that Fabio show to 25/10/96 on the first page. They definitely broke from the rota now and again as I think they had to accommodate for Grooverider playing in Australia and New Zealand in July/August 1996, which is why Grooverider had shows on the 16th and 23rd August 1996 instead of 2nd and 9th August 1996.

It could be 21/2/1997 as Grooverider & Slipmaster J were mentioned in the club listings as playing at Promised Land that night.

Right, I have been going through the Fabio tape dated 21/02/97. I can say for sure that this is correctly dated, because in one of the voiceovers fabio talks about a football match 'in the week' between Man utd and Arsenal, where peter smicheal clashed with Ian Wright. I have investigated this and there was indeed a match on wednesday the 19.02.97 in which this incident took place.

 

There are also 'Network special adverts' and fabio says 'reaching out for the first time to kiss 105 manchester yorksire and the east coast'

 

He also say's 'up next week the grooverider' which would be 28.02.97.

As I have said in my previous post, On my Fabio tape dated 28.02.97, Fabio is hosting the show but say's he doesn't think it is supposed to be his show and he and Grooverider are going back to back and Grooverider can be heard in the background. This suggests to me that I have got my dates correct, and Fabio is doing a bit of unpaid overtime, thus messing up the rotation.
