haste Posted December 20, 2005 Report Posted December 20, 2005 The idea of the database from now on is that each instance of a track will be stored only once. On some releases we have duplicate versions of tracks, particularly on compilations, and these need to be attributed with the correct track names/remix/mix names to make sure that we keep only one reference to a track. That might not all make that mch sense but perhaps some of the examples below might be of use. I'm using the raw data to make corrections so it's a little easier to spot but if anyone notices any others then please post away. If you're not sure if it's correct or not then just post it, we can always check and see if anything needs changing http://www.rolldabeats.com/search/title/97/style All mixes with no mix title should be the Saturday Night mix http://www.rolldabeats.com/label/ohm_resis...rt_by_title/asc 1st 100 = Submerged? http://www.rolldabeats.com/search/title/11/55 The mix on the Full Cylce LP will be one of those on the 12". I expect the a-side. Can anyone confirm? http://www.rolldabeats.com/search/title/2/free/with Smoker II should be changed to Smokey Joe & Tobi http://www.rolldabeats.com/search/title/28/gun "Salute" should be removed? http://www.rolldabeats.com/search/title/the/sound/of/music These really should be listed as "Gonna be Alright" as the track name. I don't know whether to change this or not as the first track on the LP is exactly the same as http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/reinforced/rivet1239 Quote
Ornette Posted December 23, 2005 Report Posted December 23, 2005 http://www.rolldabeats.com/search/title/28/gun "Salute" should be removed? yes. But am still trying to confirm the differences betwen the versions. Album version is definitely different to the JB03 release http://www.rolldabeats.com/search/title/the/sound/of/musicThese really should be listed as "Gonna be Alright" as the track name. I don't know whether to change this or not as the first track on the LP is exactly the same as http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/reinforced/rivet1239 What? Quote
haste Posted December 23, 2005 Author Report Posted December 23, 2005 What? The track Nookie - The Sound Of Music is Nookie - Gonna Be Alright (Cloud 9 Remix) Should this be changed in the database and should we also change all instances of "The Sound Of Music" to "Gonna Be Alright" e.g. Nookie - Gonna Be Alright (Foul Play Remix) Quote
Ornette Posted December 23, 2005 Report Posted December 23, 2005 In favour. Original's called "Gonna Be Alright", original remix release called "Gonna Be Alright"... But what about artist name? Change all to Cloud 9? hmmm... makes no sense http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/reinforced/rivet1239Nookie - Return Of Nookie EPA1. Cloud 9 - Gonna Be Alright (Cloud 9 Remix) Or maybe:A1. Cloud 9 - Gonna Be Alright (Nookie Remix) ??? Quote
haste Posted December 24, 2005 Author Report Posted December 24, 2005 Yeah, let's list it as Cloud 9 - Gonna Be Alright with the remix on RUVET1239 being the "Nookie Remix" Quote
Ornette Posted December 25, 2005 Report Posted December 25, 2005 Another onehttp://www.rolldabeats.com/release/x_amount/xa2 Otherwise in database as DJ Dextrous - The VictoryIn fact, it says DJ Dextrous on the record. X Amount Crew is artist for other side only Quote
thijs Posted December 27, 2005 Report Posted December 27, 2005 is The Sound Of Music an another name for Gonna Be Alright or the remix? Quote
haste Posted December 27, 2005 Author Report Posted December 27, 2005 The remix has the vocals in it that gives the tune the "Sound Of Music" name. The original version of the song has different lyrics Quote
Ornette Posted December 28, 2005 Report Posted December 28, 2005 Yeah, let's list it asCloud 9 - Gonna Be Alrightwith the remix on RUVET1239 being the "Nookie Remix"Do you know what - I dont think this will work. I think that after all, we better had change the CLOUD2 release to say:Nookie - Gonna Be Alright (Original) Changing the RIVET1239 to have Cloud 9 as artist name for the track (with Nookie as remixer) will cause too many difficulties. How can we justify this change (combined with the track name change from all called "The Sound Of Music" to "Gonna Be Alright") with all its numerous appearances on various albums specifying Nookie as the artist? Quote
thijs Posted December 28, 2005 Report Posted December 28, 2005 if it is due to the remix that it is called sound of music, one could call it: cloud 9 - gonna be alright (nookie sound of music mix) Quote
Ornette Posted December 28, 2005 Report Posted December 28, 2005 if it is due to the remix that it is called sound of music, one could call it: cloud 9 - gonna be alright (nookie sound of music mix) Hmmm, "The Sound Of Music" didn't appear as a track title until the release of the Reinforced album The Sound Of Music, two years after the original 12" release on RIVET1239. The proper track details per the original release are: Nookie - Gonna Be Alright (Cloud 9 Remix)... no mention of 'the sound of music' there... Quote
Phokus Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 http://www.rolldabeats.com/search/title/phuture All incidences of the Subject 13 track "Phuture" should read Subject 13 (feat Lee Rogers) - The Phuture ie, http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/vibez/vprcd102 and http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/unreleased/unreleased045 need amending Quote
Ornette Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 Yeah, let's list it as Cloud 9 - Gonna Be Alright with the remix on RUVET1239 being the "Nookie Remix" Well these will need updating now... 4AM001 Nookie The Sound Of Music 1995 MDCD001 Nookie The Sound Of Music 1995 RIVETLP05 Nookie The Sound Of Music 1995 RIVETCD05 Nookie The Sound Of Music 1995 SEL05 Nookie The Sound Of Music 1995 RIVETCD05 Nookie The Sound Of Music (Foul Play Remix) 1995 SEL05 Nookie The Sound Of Music (Foul Play Remix) 1995 UMLP003 Nookie The Sound Of Music (Foul Play Remix) 1995 UMCD003 Nookie The Sound Of Music (Foul Play Remix) 1995 RIVETLP05 Nookie The Sound Of Music (Foul Play Remix) Quote

Ornette Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 Right lets have some fun... - S N I P - Decided to move all my Goldie suggestions out 'cause they're really complicated and deserve their own thread. Check it out here: RDB Forum > Additions & Corrections > Artists > Rufige Kru / Metalheads / Goldie ---------------------------------------------------------This was edited around 8:10pm on the 6th January 2006 Quote

Ornette Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 Any action on the Goldie/Metalheads/Ruffige Kru stuff, Thijs? Or any comments on the suggestions, Haste? Quote
thijs Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 like the currently updated congo natty thread. will need some serious thinking over these before changes are made. info will def. be used though. just not really sure how to handle these correctly. it's either sticking to what is stated on the cover (of the timeless lp for instance), or put in what it should be (knowing what came out before and credited to who). things can be said about both. haste Posted January 6, 2006 Author Report Posted January 6, 2006 Yeah, I agree with Thijs to hold off on making any of these updates for a while. This thread is going to get very confusing and I am concerned at changing too many track names in the db to what is not printed on the labels. I agree that it is good to get everything looking nice but sometimes I feel like we might be taking things a little too far which could just end up confusing things a bit more than is really necessary Quote
Ornette Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 Right, simple 'duplicate' corrections, only, now.DJ Ron - African Chant (Bass Raiders - BAZZCD1)DJ Ron - African Chant (London Some'ting - LS004)DJ Ron - African Chant (No Frills - NOFRILLS003)Think these should all be titled: Mo Musik (African Chant Mix) DJ Ron - African Chant (2003 Remix) (No Frills - NOFRILLS003)DJ Ron - African Chant (VIP Mix) (Champagne Bash - BASHLP1)DJ Ron - African Chant (VIP Mix) (Champagne Bash - BASHCD1)Change to Mo Musik (2003 Remix) & (VIP Mix) respectivelyDJ Ron - Mo Musik (Breakdown - BDRLP003)DJ Ron - Mo Musik (Breakdown - BDRCD003)Likely that this is the "African Chant Mix" mix of Mo Music.Just giving it a listen now... ??????????...phew! what an anthem!
