AnthonyDavid
Break name: Jungle Dett Artist: Demon BoyzTrack name: Junlge Dett (Hardcore House Mix)Original release: 12", Demon Boyz - Dett or Dett/Jungle DettLabel: Tribal Bass RecordsCat number: TRIBE 4Year: 1992Producer: The Rebel MCSource Break: Needs no further explanation! Also available on: Demon Boyz - Original Guidance: The Second Chapter (CD) Example: The Prodigy - Poison http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCUs25Y6h4c&feature=channel_video_title Well, the Jungle Dett tune has both a 'clean' amen and one with the string as well as just the string, so it MUST be the source.Just spotted it because of the string and amen... Can't miss it. Love it!
AnthonyDavid
Review about Junlge Dett: "But "Jungle Dett" on the B-side is the real killer on here. It fused the hip hop stuff of the A-side with the house/techno/rave elements to a much greater degree:the synths from Kevin Saunderson's "Rock To The Beat",the "Wee-ee" sound from Loleatta Holloway's "Sweet Sensation" that was made popular by Nitro Deluxe's "The Brutal House"James Brown grunts, The Amen Break,a massive bassline, bits from the original rap off the flip,a reggae intro and little hints all the way through, blimey the list just goes on- This is proto jungle if ever I heard it. Play at +8 for maximum dancefloor devastation!" http://www.discogs.com/reviews?master=64853
Ornette
Omg's! And I was planning to make an id post about this: "The three big remaining amen derivatives" Looks like I'll have to title it 'the TWO remaining' now. Good stuff. Ornette
Ok, so noone's picked up on this yet. Here's one to get the ball rolling: Manix - Turn Away Skull http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxA4Z1mMrn0 Must be a few out there - there's better examples than this
AnthonyDavid
Also used in SL2 - Drumbeats!!! No doubt! I'm getting good at this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0utMwJbqR4
Ornette
Excellent work http://www.classifiedlistening.com/tarzanstuff/emoticons/pro.gif As I may have mentioned before this break really does hits so hard when used right. I will post up my best example shortly but until then there is a Tom & Jerry track that uses this, see if you can spot it I'm sure Bizzy B's probably used it a couple of times too
AnthonyDavid
Tom & Jerry - Programme 205http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVUf8Yy6ss8 Actually quite funny story, I had the idea last week that Jungle Dett could Have been used on this tune, I was just not really sure. And when Orntette replied I knew what tune he was talking about, we had the same idea! So, thanks Ornette to confirm it!

Ornette
Right I said I would post up my prime example of its usage, and its this Tunnel Vision - Dark Secretshttp://www.rolldabeats.com/release/labello_blanco_recordings/nlb9/ Absolutely awesome tune, gotta be one of my favourites:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIjx5zrevUQ As you can see, what can be done with the break when its in the right hands. Has a kind of hard, mechanical feel thats not present in the original amen. This is why I love this variant so. Unfortunately the Youtube clip cuts short, right as its getting going even! But should give you the idea (that bass needs turning up a bit as well)
AnthonyDavid
Hehe you all seem to love this break. I do too, love to hear this one in tunes. Indeed, it has some sort of mechanical feeling to it.
AnthonyDavid
I just realized that is uses the stab from KC & The Sunshine Band - Let It Go.http://www.rolldabeats.com/forum/index.php?/topic/36886-kc-the-sunshine-band-let-it-go-clip/

Specialjustin
That "mechanical" feel is easily achieved using compression to remove the ride cymbals, bringing the kick and snare forward. Lots of people did in later years when there was an obsession for ultra clean beats. I'm not so keen on it myself, i think it loses its flow. But is nicer to layer, so to each there own. One thing reamains though, the Amen is a killer break no matter which way you slice it!

Specialjustin
Ah I see your rank is getting higher good stuff Lol that's news to me! Thanks. After reading what you wrote, i then noticed the "like this" tab on the right. Is rank related to that? If so i really need to make use of it, so many golden nuggets in these pages. EDIT: Having said that, i just try to use the "like this" button for the first time and apparently have reached my quota for the day...Huh?
