The Informer

Not sure on the date of issue #1, but issue #3 is March 1996.
There are at least 13 issues.
...
A couple of extra points to note:
Issue 11 and issue 13 have dropped the "The" in the title. It's just Informer instead of The Informer.
Issue 13 lists Kate Griffiths as editor alongside Friction.

Thanks. I had half an idea going by the hip hop reviews - and that Lee Framer appears to be involved - that this magazine must have ended up becoming 'merged' with Atmosphere, however the fact you mention issues right up to august 1998 perhaps seems to go against that.

Will start making a start on updating the original post!

Trashmag

July 97 (I've only got this issue)

I have three of these but was unsure whether to list them as they all seem a bit random and/or centered around techno / progressive house.

Ones I have are 'may ninety seven', 'july ninety seven', 'august ninety seven' (no issue numbers given for any of them)

I have an American magazine called Junglized

i have issue 4 estimated at August 1995, it has a Suburban Base feature / interview. Picked up in Boogie Times Records.

Thanks for this. I have a copy of another american magazine titled Tha Scene, from approximately April 1998? Likely picked it up from Blackmarket or similar, but not entirely sure

Issues #1 to #5 of Junglized are available to view here:

All the other US magazine scans such as CHA (Chicago Hardcore Authority) that were originally on Goldenerajungle are archived there and also most of my Atmospehere, Blaze, Eternity and Mission scans.

I'll have a closer look, thanks!

I've found these:

Eternity  - Vol. 2:  #10 = Jan 1997

Cloud Nine - Issue #2  1995

Atmosphere - Issue #15 = Aug 1994 & Issue #17 = Oct 1994

I've also found 3 copies of M8 Magazine

Thanks. I'll make a start on cataloging the Atmosphere magazines.

Question: Does M8 magazine specifically deal with our sphere of interest - that being, early hardcore or the jungle / drum & bass that progressed out of that? If not, I probably wouldn't be interested in cataloging that, as such.

The same question could probably go for some of the other titles mentioned in this thread, such as Wax, or Dream?

If you're cataloguing Eternity, then Wax and especially Dream are worth looking at as they feature a decent amount of jungle / drum & bass. I've just scanned or made notes of articles of interest in issues of DJ, Mixmag, Muzik, Generator etc as they are general dance music magazines with less coverage of the scene.

Just checked & they seem to be very Ibiza /House/Fashion orientated.

Issue 109 - April 1998 has a two page interview with Goldie with reference to the launch of his  'New Metalheadz Trainer Range'  & also a 2 page interview with DJ Suv. Also a review page of latest D & B releases.

The other 2 copies just have the review page of latest D & B releases.

So not worth including these. Don't really know why I have them, must have just bought them for the review page of latest releases. 😅

You are right in that Wax did cover quite a fair bit of drum & bass in their issues.
Looking at the two issues I have, it was a pretty decent magazine all in all, with good features & nice layout. The thing was, I just didn't have the time back then to really sit down and 'merge' with a magazine.  I just wanted the raw information, which is why I guess I just ended up sticking with Atmosphere.

As for Dream, I think I only ever ended up buying just one of their magazines, the one with the old skool cd on the cover. I don't remember being overly impressed with it... in fact I'm not even sure I still have it any more. The cd itself is still knocking around however, "For Those Who Remember"

Thanks. Incidentally, not all of these I own but have checked from other places/sources, such as your own upload archive

I had no idea of some of these having dual-covers. Do you think there are others out there with this being the case?

Knowledge [Fortmonthly]
#1 (December/January 1995) – #14 (April/May[?] 1997)  ...
Vol. 2:  #1 (October/November[?] 1997) – #5 ('June - July 98') ...

Knowledge

#1 (December 1994) - #15 (August 1997)

Vol.2: #1 (October 1997) - #65 (May 2006)

then they reverted to the original numbering...

#81 (June 2006) - #109 (July 2009)

#109 states "Last Ever Issue" on the cover.

I assume it switched from A5 to A4 when it went from the original series to "Vol. 2". However, I don't know that for sure.

The latest magazine I've got from the original series is issue #11 (which is A5).

The earliest magazine I've got from the later series is Vol. 2 issue #14 (which is A4).

From Vol. 2 issue #32 (August 2002) onwards they dropped the word knowledge on the cover, replacing it simply with K but the web address was still knowledgemag.co.uk

From Vol. 2 issue #60 (September 2005) onwards there was no longer a spine.

From Vol. 2 issue #88 (March 2007) onwards the web address changed to kmag.co.uk, leading to it being referred to as Kmag.

Additional note: Vol. 2 issue #51 (October 2004) is actually listed on the cover as Vol. 2 issue #50. It's a typo on the issue number, as Vol. 2 issue #50 (September 2004) was released a month earlier.

Additions in bold.

Thanks. Good job someone's cross checking, made some silly errors in there ha ha

Is that definitely the last issue then, from the end of 1997?

I've got issues 14, 15, 18 - 20, 22, 23, 32 - 55 of Atmosphere / ATM so if there's any info you need on the issues just let me know.

The Mathmatix mag that Ornette mentions only last one issue I think and then turned into Atm update which ran for another 2 issues. I have these aswell.

Always preferred Atmosphere over Knowledge due to the DJ charts and dubplate reviews.

I never managed to pick up any of the smaller local scene magazines up in Yorkshire and can't recall any bases in the North that covered jungle / dnb.

I can't say for definite, but I've spoken to quite a few other people with collections of Scene magazines over the years, and none of them have seen any issues after issue 34 (December 1997 / January 1998) so I believe that's the last one.

It's a little ironic as there's an article in issue 34 having a pop at Eternity magazine because they had just ceased printing. I can't share the page on here as it's quite offensive in places, but it's written under the guise of an article by the Spice Girls. Mad stuff.

Thanks. Incidentally, not all of these I own but have checked from other places/sources, such as your own upload archive

I had no idea of some of these having dual-covers. Do you think there are others out there with this being the case?

Those are the only issues I've seen with different covers.

I've got a few issues of The Mint Magazine.
