iamdek Posted June 30, 2006 Report Posted June 30, 2006 I'm assuming the sample comes from here and not from the original Martin Luther King Jr speech ... "And many of us, by the way we act, we even lost our mind" http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/grand_larceny/gl002Vorte-X - Tribal Warfare (Everybody) Quote
The_Manipulator Posted June 30, 2006 Report Posted June 30, 2006 I still think that if there's nothing "added" it should be credited to the original source, which in this case would be an album with MLK speeches (got it lying around somewhere...). I think most samples (especially beats!!) aren't taken from the original source, but either bootlegs or records that already sample them... Or is this Chuck D saying this? Quote
iamdek Posted June 30, 2006 Author Report Posted June 30, 2006 Or is this Chuck D saying this? It's MLK .... part of some big old speech he made. Quote

dest Posted July 1, 2006 Report Posted July 1, 2006 Also used in Crazy Loops - Lost our minds - Dope Dragon That uses the full sample though Quote
blah Posted July 3, 2006 Report Posted July 3, 2006 also used by dj clarkee on the redzone ep on this http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/red_zone/rz001 not sure which tune but I think it's smiley. love this track, especially when the rubbish bin sounding drums come in. original ruffness! Quote
haste Posted July 3, 2006 Report Posted July 3, 2006 Yeah, I think this should be credited to MLK, not the Public Enemy track. I've been doing this with lots of samples that are obviously off old hip hop tracks (lots of Public Enemy, in fact). There will be a way in which we can add notes to each entry once it's all in the db to inform of the records the actual sample might be from Quote
The_Manipulator Posted July 3, 2006 Report Posted July 3, 2006 Ok, I'll have my mate dig up the album to get all the info... Quote

haste Posted May 27, 2009 Report Posted May 27, 2009 As pointed out in this thread and from Google searches this should be attributed to Khalid Abdul Muhammad http://cobb.typepad.com/cobb/2007/04/roots_native_al.html Quote
