Guest sk
useful info:http://www.nu-breed.co.uk/camden/docs/history.htm The Camden Records stall was set up in the late 80s by the original owner Horace. At the time they sold all types of dance music, particulalry US House and Garage as well as Euro Techno. During the early 90s the stall became extremely popular as it was one of the first shops in London to start stocking the new UK underground hardcore sound that was just beginning to blow up. Many famous faces passed through regularly to stock up on the latest tunes. Due to the huge success of the stall Horace teamed up with a man called Sash to open another shop on the Kings road in Chelsea. They decided call it Lucky Spin Records. Both shops were shifting huge quantites of vinyl, the next step was to set up a record label. Two labels were launched - Camden Tunes and Lucky Spin Records. Sasha and Horace's partnership broke a few years later, Horace kept the stall, while Sasha kept the shop but decided to sell it to Moving Shadow who re-opened it as Section 5 Records. Camden kept on going with a patchy appearance schedule until 2000 when it was bought by Snypa and T-Lite from Slow Motion Records alongside Lemz, one of the original employees (and later co-owner after Horace sold his share). Phokus
 that's haste's website. Since Camden Tunes the label only released in 1993 and 1994, I think it should listed as being owned by Horace and Sasha Cohen (and thus be related to Lucky Spin et al). As for ownership of the Lucky Spin label... do we add Horace? Hastey?
haste
To be honest I haven't got a clue. Horace defiitely ran Camden Tunes but I'm not sure about his involvement in Lucky Spin. I could ask Sacha, of course

haste
I don't know his surname, I don;t think anyone really does. He's just known as Horace
Logic
I e-mailed Sacha about this twice and PMed him, and he ignored all of them. :annoyed:
MostDeaths
Does anyone know what month Moving Shadow opened up Section 5 on Kings Road in Chelsea? I've got it down as February 1994. Apologies if this has already been mentioned elsewhere. I was listening to JJ's upload of Richie on Coastal Radio - 13th December 1993 on deepinsidetheoldskool. During the show he mentions Playford having started working on a special track with Goldie (Inner City Life), which I find to be surprising, as I didn't think that would have been started in 1993. This got me thinking when Shadow relocated from Stevenage to Soho, and whether the relocation in any way coincided with the opening of Section 5? MostDeaths
JJ got back to me: it was around February 1994 as Steve Lyall left Lucky Spin in late 1993 and there were adverts for the new shop in the March 94 magazines
Ornette
Confused by this bit useful info:http://www.nu-breed....ocs/history.htm"Camden kept on going with a patchy appearance schedule until 2000 when it was bought by Snypa and T-Lite from Slow Motion Records alongside Lemz, one of the original employees (and later co-owner after Horace sold his share)."
