thijs Posted August 3, 2006 Author Report Posted August 3, 2006 At the moment it will only show up in a 'label' search. Im not sure exactly why this is, something to do with the database i guess. To see your collection in all searches (especially artist) is something i would love to see aswell.. thijs?? it already does with artists. the reason you normally don't see this is because the default view for artists is 'tracks' while for labels this is 'releases'. since it are releases which you have in your collection you will have to choose 'releases' at the artist discography. working on extending this to tracks, but can not mention a estimated time for that...
Christopher Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 I'm getting fed up with seeing spam posts from bots with links to porn / gambling / drugs sites... Please RDB admins, disable the ability to anonymously post.
thijs Posted August 22, 2006 Author Report Posted August 22, 2006 fed up? all i can say is that the mods are doing an excellent job at removing them. we could however use an US mod, since during the EU nighttime is about the only period spam posts are not removed within minutes. other than that we are looking for a method to make guest enter some kinda of captcha thing, we however do not plan to make is mandatory to become a member before one can post.
Logic Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 we could however use an US mod Ahem!! I log on here at random times throughout the day (-6 GMT) and I almost never find spam. Should I be checking more often?
thijs Posted August 23, 2006 Author Report Posted August 23, 2006 yer right, they all seem to be from early this morning (~8:30 CET)
The_Manipulator Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 I'm getting fed up with seeing spam posts from bots with links to porn / gambling / drugs sites... Please RDB admins, disable the ability to anonymously post. And even then... we have seen spam bots registering before posting... so just disabling anonymous posting still doesn't get rid of spam. And about captcha's... there are enough progs that can "read" captcha's. Why do you think they are become harder to read for us humans... The best would be a REAL picture (boat, house, tree, etc) and then select what is shown... though that may pose problems for people that don't have a good understanding of the english language... Another good way would be to automatically set a post to "Unapproved" if it uses the first smiley... (just look: ALL spam posts use that smiley!!). But Invision board can't do that  The best thing would be if Windows users would get a little more brains so there wouldn't be that many zombie PC's... (hmm... that turned out quite nicely ) And believe me... you only get to see a small amount of the actual SPAM... I've deleted a lot of spam that hadn't had any views or just 1 or 2...

Hmm, alright you lot, you've convinced me otherwise I do appreciate all the hard effort of the mods, as one myself on another (quite busy) forum I know how most of the time your efforts go unappreciated! I was venting my frustrating as much as anything
The_Manipulator Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 Hmm, alright you lot, you've convinced me otherwise I do appreciate all the hard effort of the mods, as one myself on another (quite busy) forum I know how most of the time your efforts go unappreciated! I was venting my frustrating as much as anything I find it quite frustrating myself... and if I'd known a fool proof way of getting rid of spammers... I'd do it. Thing is, there are hacker sites that just have scripts on how to use exploits in forum software. So even script kiddies can do that... That's probably why spam always seems to follow the same patterns (it used to be in the comments forum and when disabling that it moved to labels...). Hmm... maybe I should look at how to do extensions for Invision... because the picture thing would be the way of the future...
Leif Posted September 1, 2006 Report Posted September 1, 2006 sry i needed to post to see what my member # is rdb yay
The_Manipulator Posted September 1, 2006 Report Posted September 1, 2006 sry i needed to post to see what my member # is Yeah guys, even on your profile you can't see your member number... as far as I can see it'sonly shown on your posts...
haste Posted September 1, 2006 Report Posted September 1, 2006 It's in the URL of your member profile e.g. http://www.rolldabeats.com/forum/index.php?showuser=136
thijs Posted September 1, 2006 Author Report Posted September 1, 2006 look at the index page, your id is displayed within brackets behind your user name. just added as a quick fix for this...
The_Manipulator Posted September 1, 2006 Report Posted September 1, 2006 Could you make the collection and wishlist links link to the directory with the userID? So people can just cut+paste it? Or is that a bit difficult...
thijs Posted September 1, 2006 Author Report Posted September 1, 2006 will have a look later this weekend. the reason it can't be done straight away, is because in that case someone who has his/her collection private would not even be able to see it themselves.
oplin Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 is this still considered to be in beta?
thijs Posted November 21, 2006 Author Report Posted November 21, 2006 i would hereby also let you people know that you can be sure your collection will be kept, so go add that stuff!
